What first comes to mind? That's exactly what my problem is! A lot of the time when I'm
hungry, I can't figure out what I want to eat (sigh). I just can't
decide. So, I tend to skip the meal instead. It's one way to diet,
I suppose. Oh well.Sky
I'm the same way. Sometimes I know exactly what I want but most of the time
I know I'm hungry but I have no idea what I want. So I often just sip some
broth to get rid of the hunger pangs.

Whatever I happen to be in the mood for, or most often whatever is
easiest to fix from the 'frige, freezer or pantry!
I'm not generally that picky most of the time.

Soup. But if I don't have it in the freezer or on hand, I just tend not to
eat.

Silly but GOOD answer!
I spent a looooooooooooong time in the Army where, out bush more often
than not, you forsook food for sleep/rest. It became a secondary thing.
Then there were the times when you could feel your body/energy waning,
so you shovelled something into your mouth....... it didn't matter what
it was because it was fuel.I remember sitting across from some guys in a Mess Hall in a Military
training camp in Russia. We were served a dish that they started to turn
their noses up at and push away.My advice to them was "Don't look at it, don't smell it, don't turn it
over. Just put it in your mouth and eat it. It's protein. It will keep
you alive."We were eating dog chops.
It's just recently that I have come to 'see' what wonders different
foods can be.
If I lived in Oz, I'd be outside of the Adelaide Casino for a floater first
thing in the morning!!!

They're usually better when you stagger out of the Casino and dawn is just
breaking, and you've had a skinful of [censored]. Floaters are good chunder
material. Easy on the way down, and they don't hurt coming back up :-)

I didn't get to check it out on my most recent trip down there. But back
in the ol' days, it used to stay open all night.

Food.
That's my answer also! Depends on many other factors
(time of day, season of year, what I've had recently
or haven't had recently, what's easily available,
what I can afford, etc.) as to the specific item I
think of.

Food! Fridge! Formulate! Feast! (When hungry this is my thought process
broken into steps.) I don't turn to predecided stuff. Even if there are
leftovers in the fridge. I examine my possibilities before removing my
hunger.
