G'day

Before you jump down my throat about shopping online, hear me out. I live in Tasmania, where cycling retailers whack a 50% price hike on all things bike related. What does this mean? It means bib knicks go from between $150 and $350. Yes. Don't get me started on what the bikes cost. Around double US$ is a general rule of thumb.

So, where do you fellows shop for clothes online? US and European retailers are both cool with me.

Thanks

F.

eBay. I bought a Pearl Izumi Microsensor not long ago for US$80 from US. Shipping is around US$12 on top.

Bikes cost double ?? Here in Brisbane it's not that bad, bikes are reasonably priced.

Thanks for the tip.

I know all about Mainland bike prices, my last three bikes have all been purchased from the mainland (TCR from Redcliff Cycles, Stumpjumper from Freedom Machine, Bianchi Carbon XL from Fitzroy Cycles). The shops down here just charge too much.

have a look at Probikekit.com and parker international Uk.

recently bought shoes and pedals from probikekit and was charged 25 aussie dollars for postage and it was stated during my purchase, not after and included in the final total.
took 11 days to arrive so very happy to save 250 plus dollars on rrp here
hope this helps

Yeah i near refuse to pay retail for gear too, why, when you can save up to 40-50% on what the LBS charge? sure we may not be helping the local economy, but money talks.

I get a lot of gear from Probikekit, cheap & very quick, i recently had 2 prorace tyres delivered to me on the east coat of Oz in 5 working days!

Whew...we've all been in suspense on this question for over 8 years!

For high-quality name-brand clothing, I've discovered a few places that have good prices, reasonable shipping charges
(at least to the USA), and trustworthy return policies. Three are in Europe; one is in the USA.

http://www.departmentofgoods.com/bike -- Colorado, USA; last year's and clearance clothing;
telephone customer service and 30 day return policy
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com -- No. Ireland; current clothing and some clearance
http://www.wiggle.co.uk -- Portsmouth, UK; current clothing and some clearance; telephone customer service has been
sketchy and I usually had to email and wait 3 to 6 days for replies. I like them nonetheless.
http://www.bikeinn.com/bike -- Spain; I haven't bought from them yet, but I like their prices for many items. When
I tried to email them with questions before, they took more than a week to respond.

Also, but with conditions or reservations:

http://www.realcyclist.com -- sister-company of Dept. of Goods (above); current year clothing at non-clearance prices.
60 day return policy; telephone customer service
http://www.nashbar.com/index.cfm -- Tennessee, USA; they focus on lower-cost brands
http://www.probikeshop.com -- France; occasionally great prices & good English-language support are migtigated
by limited clothing brands and high shipping charges.
http://www.probikekit.com -- Britain; good prices but use Royal Mail & Parcel Force for int'l delivery (SLOW)
= 20 days to US West Coast
