Where are you from, what do you do?

Please recommend a rack, panniers and fenders.

Retired actor. Oregon, Willamette Valley.
Just rebuilt a 1993 GT Timberline, many coats of lacquer, installed drop bars, bar end shifters and new brake levers. New chain. Dismantled everything, cleaned it, put it back.
Very tight, strong frame. Built to tour. Next I decide on what rack/pannier/fender combination works best. I want very low loads front and back with compatable racks for tie-downs.

Hi everyone,

I'm Arno from Holland, near Amsterdam.
One yer ago I picked up mountainbiking again.
the last time was about 15 years ago.
I'm 47 yo and in a very bad shape, still.
The last year I lost about 15 kgs and I think I still have another 25-30 to go.
The last year I also started to do some roadcyceling which I really like to do. This is way easier for me to do because I live in a very flat piece of Europe. We have some dunes here but the real hills are 200 km from my place.
Sometimes I take my bike in the car and go there to have some fun.
that is so far.
Speak to you later.
Grz Arno

Totally new to biking. Had to overcome my fear of competing with automobiles on the hills of Connecticut, USA. Have seen too many head injuries from biking accidents. However, turned 51 years of age, find exercise boring, but needed to get into a good fitness regimen to prepare for the future golden year. So, bit the bullet, and bought a comfort road bike: 2012 Cannondale Carbon Synapse 5 105.
Pure meditation and solitude on the road. Now, I understand the Zen of biking.

Specific interests. Very cool.

I'm from Atlanta, Georgia.

I'm a machinist by trade, but spend most of my time programming CNC mills and lathes.

Cycle commuter, century rider, musician, beer drinker. In no particular order.

I'm from Fort Walton Beach, Florida (near Destin) and I just bike casually for exercise and commute, but cycling seems to be a growing interest and I am eager to learn more about it. I don't compete, but it could be fun, someday.

I from Portola Valley, California. I love to ride bikes(duh), both pedal and motor. I've been training about 10-12 hours a weeks for over six years now. I just finished my third season of Masters Road Racing and have turned into an addict. If anyone gets out here, I tell you which group rides to do(if your a roady), or which mtn rides to do depending on where you are in the SF bay area. Cheers!

I'm originally from Panama, lived in Europe for years and now live in Dallas, Texas, I'm a local truck driver and ride my bike 3-5 times a week

Hi, I am from Michigan. At 58 years old, I generally ride a 3spd, and seldom ride more than 50 miles at one time. I'll go to the store, or ride a MUP. Just shuffle along listening to the Sturmey Archer click away. Very relaxing. Usually drop a few roadies with their lycra and CF bikes. Stop at the local fruit stand and pick up a bag of apples, usually Golden Delicious. Typical ride for me. /img/vbsmilies/smilies/smile.gif

Hello,

I am originally from Chicago,IL but now reside in Arlington, VA.

I work for a large auto manufacturer in the suburbs of Washington, DC as a Fleet specialist overseeing a variety of the national sales programs.

I have just recently gotten more into road cycling and must say I am pretty hooked on it. I try to ride about 50-60 miles a week and hope to work up to doing a century come late spring.

I'm Jon and live on the Big Island of Hawaii since Sept 6th 2011. I'm soon to be 59 and am retired. Actually when we bought our house here the previous owner threw in some stuff with the deal. Like furniture, an older riding lawn mower, and an inexpensive 21 speed mountain bike. I have recently started riding the bike. I have belonged to a gym since I was 49 and do cardio and weights, so I try to stay in shape. I'm working my way up to a day trip on my bike to Hilo and back. That will be 25 plus miles depending on how much riding around I do in Hilo. I have ridden motorcycles and scooters since I was eight. I'm trying to use the bike to run errands giving me exercise and saving gas. I was taking care of animals for some people and rode the bike many days (about 12 mile round). Rode to Keaau to pick up the mail from our Post Office box (12 mile round). Rode to Pahoa last Saturday for our weekly chess club (17.5 miles round-one way with a steady headwind).
I had an injured knee from a couple years ago, but it seems to be holding up well. I have an ankle problem (?tendonitus?) but it doesn't seem to be limiting me.
If I stay with it I may get another bike.

I am really enjoying riding.

Jon

I'm Morgan and I'm from Pittsburgh. I road ride just about every day but love all sorts of cycling. Whenever the income merits it I want to get into CX or XC riding but I'm back in school so I'll be sticking to pavement for the immediate future. I want to start crit racing next year, but eventually want to do some distance racing as I enjoy fast long rides.

I'm Paul
I'm from Auckland New Zealand
I'm a relief teacher and a Horologist.
I ride about 5 times a week

I do group rides, club racing and longer 'fun' races.

I've got;
Turner training bike
Lemond Reno training bike
Bauer steel framed Singlespeed roadbike
Merida training/racing bike
'90s Saronni I'm restoring
80s TEAM Raleigh I'm restoring

90s Trek mountain bike I ride on bike paths etc with my family.

At the moment I'm training for the 160kms Bike the Lake around Lake Taupo near the end of November. Having wanted to do it since the 80s I might finally make it this year.
