Where are you from, what do you do?

I'm from Niagara Falls, Canada. I am the general manager, and the controller, of a publishing company. I commute to work about 9 months of the year, a daily distance of between 33 and 38 km (20-24 mi), and ride on the weekends pretty much year round. Annually, I do 6,000 km (3,750 mi), most of it on one of 4 road bikes, or one of 2 mountain bikes (all clipless), and most of it alone. I'm a utilitarian cyclist, but I mostly ride for the sheer joy of it, and the thrill of small-footprint self-propulsion. Exercise, economy and environmental benefits are important too, but all secondary.
That's it!

Hello everyone! I'm Tyler, a college student, and a newly inspired cyclist. I go to Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. That's in the US for anyone that doesn't know. I'm majoring in Digital Film Production and minoring in Screenwriting. I ride my bike around campus and downtown when I go to work for a video editing job that does the school's website as well as the videos. I also work for a local newspaper printer, preparing it for the distributors. Nothing big, really. When I ride, I ride for many reasons. Actually, I ride for all reasons except for the competition part, but I've been thinking about it.
Just last month, I purchased a blue Trek 360 road bike, which was made in 1988 I have found. I found it on Craigslist for $175, which may be too much. I think it was worth it to tell the truth; it rides like a beauty. Best bike I have ever ridden, but then again, I have only ridden Wal-Mart bikes. Go me. I hope I will enjoy this new world of the Cycling forums as i am becoming slightly addicted to road bikes. :D

Hello all,

I live in the south east (of the US) and north east (of Tennessee) and have been cycling for 20+ years now. In one way I have come full circle since my first real road bike (not including my 1978 Cavalier Puch), was a Trek 520. Attached to this is a recent picture of my latest (< than 6 months old) 1994 Trek 520. I bought it in mint condition and left all the original equipment on it, except an aero bar, Brooks saddle, Look pedals, custom wood fenders, and Frost River bags. I only got 3200 miles in last year but hope to exceed that this year.

Welcome aboard Sotaria. Nice picture of your bike it looks to be in terrific condition. With twenty years of cycling I look forward to you sharing your experience.

Thanks for the welcome. Unfortunately, my rides include three crashes which involved 3 broken clavicles, etc...the last one being Sept 06 which further led to my retirement, i.e., 30+ years of service with the Fed Govt (computer spec). Just now getting back to where I can bike w/o the neck/back nerve pain due to herniated disk, etc......nuff complainin'

Here's a pic of my true workhouse - take a LOOK :)

Hi, I've done quite a bit of research on electric bikes and specialise in conversion kits. I recently went to China to visit some electric bike factories and shows. If you're interested in watching a short documentary on the electric bike scene in China please visit my SOLAR BIKE website and watch one of the videos I made. http://solarbike.com.au/videos.php Otherwise search youtube for "Electric bicycles in China documentary" and it'll be the first hit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KA47vf6f64 . Happy Cycling. Matthew from SOLAR BIKE

I'm a retired concert piano technician/tuner, aged fifty six.

Used to rec ride a Trek road bike, about thirty years ago.

Lately I have gotten back on a bike, a Trek Lime (I can't aero anymore) and am riding about ten miles per day,
getting my legs strong and finding my health again.

Living in Miami. It's a great place to vacation, have been happy here for a lifetime.

Here I go for a wet weather ride,
what more could you ask a Lime to do?

HI, I'm a female pensioner from central South Africa and I ride for fun and to keep the old ticker healthy and the joints a little less creaky!

Hello! I'm a stockbroker from South West England :) Currently commute 16 miles a day and around 40 miles on a weekend. Own 5 bikes.... :p

Hello, I'm from Duabi...I'm mountain bike fan, and doing road bike too 3 times a week. Every ride not less 50km I'm using Specialized bike for mountIn bike and road bike.

Santa Monica California. Retired from Airlines. Have a custom bike by Charles Roberts in London. Working for FedEx, I could throw my bike on a plane and go. Toured many of the big European battlefields of WW II on 2 wheels. I ride with the La Grange Velo club, but have been living in the mountains and off the bike since 2005. In 2004, I road about 3400 miles. I sure wish our government would switch over to the Metric System so we could talk with the rest of the world.

My name is Ceze. I'm a 27 year old cubicle nerd. On my days off I produce music using Ableton. I like watching documentaries and going for long bike rides when the weather permits. I love using Sportypal PRO app on Android to track my progress. I used to ride bmx street as a kid and teen but left it alone when I went overseas for a few years on business. I recently bought a 2000 Giant Sedona CS and I am currently looking for ways to upgrade the parts to make it more street and more "road bike" appealing. I posted a thread but bc I am new the moderators are taking forever to post it up. Hit me up!

Hello,
I like to read these threads, but have not written in. I thought I would today.
This past year has been the WORST year of my life! I was 49 yrs old, my husband of twenty years told me he needs his space, wants a divorce and has moved out of the house, I have two teenagers at home, had surgery, and now I have to find a job after 15 yrs of being a stay at home mom. These are just the highlights, of 2010!
Anyway, I was pretty miserable when my 50th birthday rolled around this month. So... I went and purchased myself a 50th birthday present! A beautiful new Specialized Dolce Elite roadbike! You do not know how excited I am about this bike! I have been riding a Diamondback hybrid bike (that my husband picked out FOR me) for over ten years. I have wanted a road bike but was afraid to get one, and they are expensive for me. Anyway after wishing for a new bike for the last couple of years, I thought, you only turn 50 yrs old once, and I deserve it!
I just brought it home and I feel like kid with a brand new toy!! I can't wait to ride it! I am located in Southwest Missouri, USA
As the kids are visiting my husband at his apartment , I just had to tell someone!
Thanks for listening!
Connie

Great choice. Nice bike.

Join a social riding group. All the nicest people ride bikes!

Have fun.

Scott

By the way, once your confident, I reckon you will need to raise the saddle. Get your LBS to do a fit up. You'll enjoy your riding more.
