I have been mountain biking for almost 2 years, and love it. I am supposed to be in a race mid september this year, and figured the best way to train would be ride the course where the race is 2 times a week, and start road cycling... I just picked this up offa ebay, and was wondering what components are pretty much universal...i know its a 93 fuji ace cromoly frame...60cm, w/ a 1" threaded headset...but it has the headseat and fork w/ it..what should i get?...i want all info..i'm starting w/ the wheels, and goin from there probably...so i need to know what the lightest and best priced wheels, tires, brakes, gears, cranksets, handlebars, seats, ect....are...all help is much appreciated! btw, i'm poor and in college...here's a pic of it

You are asking something that is WAY complex...to answer this easily w/o going back n forth is impossible. If you are poor and in college, know that buying new components/wheelset/etc is going to cost about as much as buying a new bike. If you're going the value route, I'd look for a used bike of any size/frame with components that are gently used, perhaps in the shimano 105 groupo (very general recommendation there), and with a decent wheelset. That said, if you find a 60cm, so much the better.
