Where's a good source for a cheap reasonable quantity container/tin of anti-sieze copper compound?

Presumably not a LBS or Halfords but perhaps some sort of motor
accessory shop or discount store.

Does somewhere like Wilkinsons do it?

Also is it true that more expensive bikes tend to have more problems
with clicking and creaking noises due to a greater likelyhood of
having steel screwed/bolted to aluminium or vice versa?

Car section of halfords won't be expensive. I got mine from the local motor
accessory shop - pint tin of the stuff.

Halfords: About £5.99 for a 500g tub. If you manage to run out then I'd
be interested to know what you were doing with it!

My aluminium bike tends to get noisier over time due to (Amongst other
things) steel cable ends rubbing inside aluminium lugs on the frame.

Regular TLC with the above-mentioned copper grease solves this.

You want a trade motor factor. I wonder if Cafco do it?

I haven't noticed it in Wilkinson's but specialist car accessories shops
will have it.

However, you don't need it in large quantities. One small syringe of Finish
Line Ti Prep goes a long way, especially considering not everything needs
it. Ordinary grease still does (and is much cleaner to use) for most bike
parts.

I don't believe so, despite there often being more dissimilar metals to
worry about. A lot of lighter bikes tend to have frame tubing that
amplifies every little sound. So you get the same creaks and clicks, it's
just that you hear them.

I usually get mine in Partco (motor factor). They do pound or kilo
tins, but a small tube fits in the toolbox better, is easier to apply,
and will be enough for bike use for years and years.

It's not cheap necessarily to buy, but goes so far ... I still have a tin
that's about 20 years old, and it's only quarter empty .. ;)

Possibly do their own brand, maybe, but IMHO for things like grease I prefer
to buy a known brand.

Doubtful, though possible I guess. I'd also guess that as more expensive
bikes generally have thinner walled tubing to their frames and, especially
steel framed ones, carry sound more because they're of a more 'sound'
construction. ;)

A local garage mechanic gave me a few spoonfuls of copper grease in a
plastic cup, in return for the price of a pint, (we're a fair way from
any regular supplier) which so far has lasted me for a number of years.

I have a little tube from halfords downstairs. Probably about 50g. Lasts
ages.

Try a specialist brake factor, coppaslip is very expensive compared with
the copies, but is better value in the long term IMHO
