I just got a pair of LOOK 396 pedals with "adjustable free arc" ie adjustable float.

    It came with Red cleats.

I have found very little, if any difference with the different settings; 0,3, 6 and 9 achieved by rotating the yellow knob at the rear of the pedal.

I think the pedals with adjustable floats are designed for black cleats... The red cleats have float in built in them already by way of the hollow area on the rear of the cleat. The yellow know basically moves a ridge on the inside of the rear edge forward, giving the pedal varible float.

What do other people think? ARE the adjustable float pedals designed for black cleats not reds? and if so, why do they ship with red cleats as standard?
