Why do we have to guarantee the citizens of the world their religious freedom?

If it's un-American to deny entry to a Moslem because they are Moslem, are we obligated to extend American rights to the citizens of the world, such as freedom of religion?

We don't have to extend American rights to the rest of the world.

If we do, maybe we should let foreigners in here to vote? Then ALL the people of the world could vote themselves favors from the public treasury like "Cash for Klunkers" or the highway stimulus. We could have good highways all over the world, funded with our tax dollars. They could throw out their old pickups and ancient Japanese sedans and buy new Silverados.

Maybe we should, hypothetically speaking, invade oppressive regimes in order to force their governments to respect our First Amendment?

Maybe we should free all the people in jail to make sure American due process rights and Miranda warning rights were applied?

The world and the US is all screwed up. If that is what you seem to be stating, I agree.

Trump suggested not allowing Moslems to immigrate to the US. I am saying we don't owe foreign nationals the right of religious freedom.

Owe?

We owe it to the citizens to ensure any who enter are here with noble intentions.

When the 99.9% of the just, law abiding Muslims speak out and take action against their heathen brethren, I'll listen to pukes like you.

You're a moron.

What part of my post is asking that we extend the concept of religious freedom to foreigners?

You do raise an interesting point. There's probably a few percent very liberal Moslems, a few percent of extremists who are apt to join ISIS or Al Quaeda, but it is entirely possible many centrists have sympathies for the extremists, but don't view themselves personally as hand picked by god to do the actual terrorism.

All Immigrants should be vetted. Japan and Switzerland are two countries that have strict policies for immigration and I have yet to hear anyone call them racist.

We do not owe foreign nationals anything. Nothing.

As far as who is the moron, who conflates cash for clunkers, highway stimulus, first amendment rights, miranda rights and the kicker....letting criminals out of prison. These are a fine and dandy but I sort of like the second amendment. I should be allowed to defend myself against foreign nationals here who want to harm us or me.

Maybe I misunderstood your original post but it was a bunch of gibberish

If we must grant them one right, we must grant them all the rest, such as the right to vote for cash for clunkers.

Yeah, that's real confusing.

Wow, that's quite a leap.

Why would you even conflate the two wholly unrelated concepts?

Who am I kidding?

I suspected Trump had lost his mind when he wanted to ban entry based on a specific religion, as if that would fly with the American people, as if a dedicated terrorist couldn't just lie or come in illegally, but the wiretap thing tears it.

Obama did NOT wiretap anyone.

Why should he when so many are on his side? He can just retire to the lecture circuit now.

He can't be president for a third term because of the 22nd Amendment.

He might be a nice, principled, more or less qualified guy, but he is not some kind of Zorro of Obamunism.

Religious freedom isn't guaranteed anywhere in the world, not even in the US. The 1st Amendment prevents the government from making laws about establishments of religion. That doesn't prevent atheist organizations from trying to ban religious things such as a cross on public ground.

As far as practicing one's religion in another country, nobody can stop you. What you do in the privacy of your own home is nobody else's business. If you go around, broadcasting your religion, then you're going to find some opposition.

I started this thread when Trump had just restricted visits from certain African, Middle Eastern and West Asian countries.

I didn't think it was a "Muslim Ban" because most of the world's Muslim nations and people were unaffected and the countries which were affected had some issues not limited to Islam. Besides, it wasn't a ban but gave authorities 90 extra days to vet visitors from those countries.

But my point was, if we need extra time to vet someone's entry because their country has lost control of its criminal records or can't control terrorist cells in their midst, do we owe them the same benefit of the doubt that we would an American citizen?

Do we let 1,000 terrorists into the country just so no innocent person ever gets denied?

To that I have to say an unequivocal 'No!' And that's something a lot of liberal minds don't seem to understand.

As a legal immigrant into the U.S., I went through three years of quadruplicate paperwork, back and forth across the Atlantic. I had to have a sponsor. My wife and I had to have medical examinations by an American doctor in London, and had to pay him in dollars. We had to stand before the American Consul in London, right hands raised and swear we were not bringing our two young daughters here for the purpose of prostitution. I was horrified at the idea! I had to swear I would serve in the military if called upon. We also had to swear we would not be a burden on the welfare system, and we never have been in the forty years we've been here. The rules are rigid but it seems that a lot of people have no idea we have immigration laws.

We had no objections to all the requirements, and it troubles me to see how immigration laws are being brushed aside over feelings. Every country has immigration laws, and they are necessary. Trump did the right thing. Every American who suffers at the hands of an illegal immigrant thug, is another reason for the wall to be built.

There are over 110 walls/fences in various countries. The media never does a comparison of various countries and their immigration policies since it does not fit the narrative they wish to achieve.
Unfortunately there are no guarantees in this life and life ain't fair.

Failure to do comparisons seems to be a Leftist problem. Bernie Sanders and his kind should take a good look at Venezuela and Cuba before they push socialist policies on the U.S. We can learn by examples.

In general, cultural particularities, including religion, are a complex issue in the generality and communion of people. The environment shapes human behavior, and until education is relevant to every scrap of land on our planet, all will be in vain. However, it is true to say that no one should adjust to the newcomers.
