1. Well, cycling is almost a "spiritual" experience for me...if that doesn't sound TOO corny :-P
Sometimes if I've had a really sucky day...its the only think that maked me feel better...I just get on my bike and keep riding and get lost and get chased by dogs and and forget all my problems...at least for an hour or two 🙂

When the spiris are low, when the day appears dark when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go for a spin down the road, wihtout thought on anything but the ride that you are taking" -Sir Arther Cannon Doyle

And...its good excercise too!

2. Exercise. Fun, get the blood circulating, save gas, save air pollution (create none) save money, show others that it can be done. I know there are people who see me and say, "if he can do that, I can."
Keeps the weight in check, keeps that fat belly off me.
dc

3. Shortly after retiring I came down with a case of fat ass. Riding my three wheeler
helps fight off the symptoms of fat ass. 😄

4. I ride because I can't run or jog, bad ankles. To loose weight and get into shape, I have quite a beer pouch, better known as dunlop disease. Although it is shrinking, my gut that is...😄 I live in St. Johns Michigan, kind of a rural farming area, it's a ok place to ride but not much in the way of scenery unless you like corn fields, and dairy farms.. Parents have up summer home up in northern Michigan, much better scenery and hills "big hills" up in their neck of the woods. Doing 30 mile up there is like doing 50 back home. Cycling is a great way for me to unwind after a long day at the office, I feel great after I get back from a ride and I can eat most anything without felling to guilty.🙂

5. I cycle to keep healthy, only started a few months back and can't run due to a bad knee, I find cycling incredibly enjoyable but wish I had more time but I work shifts so it makes it hard to find time =/

6. ya know when I put the skins on I look like a overstuffed brautwurst. I ride in hope that I will not look like a sausage in time.
Besides I can take one less shot of insulin when I ride.

7. why not? to annoy my girlfriend with disgusting calves? yes 🙂
stay in shape? yes 🙂
do something instead of run? yes 🙂
be part of some kind of community feeling among other cyclists? yes 🙂
because i cant drive? yes 🙂
for the hell of it? yes 🙂
to tell my friend about how my rebuilt junker is better than his $1100 cannondale? yes 🙂
i love biking, have since i was about 5 🙂
south eastern CT, no good biking roads but ill do it anyways 🙂 have fun 🙂

8. I am trying to break my trend, the past 6 years I have been one of the few overweight students in my class. College begins in the fall, and I want a fresh start. What other hobby can you leave for an entire day, feel great about yourself, and pay hardly anything for each hour. Almost every ride includes something really out of the ordinary...tonight I found 6 chicken breasts (uncooked) laying in the road within about 1/2 mile of eachother. Cycling keeps me off of the couch, and cyclingforums.com.

9. I ride mostly to pay tribute to my hero Classic1.

Everyone needs a hero.

There are better heroes and role models out there.

I was at the other end of the scale, I grew up with turbo-charged metabolism, but now that I've reached middle-age  , my metabolism is slowing down big time. I didn't reach 120 pounds until I was 24.

The rides I've been taking have been chipping away at my mid-section, so I know I've been doing something right. In spite of that though, my wife thinks I look good in Lycra.... 😄

12. I ride because it makes me feel like a kid again.
Because it keeps my health indicators (RHR, chol/triG,b/p)low.
It saves me a ton of money over a car.
It's like flying on a magic carpet.
I love the bike, everything about it just screams "pinnacle of invention!"
So I can ride 90 minutes on my 90th birthday, and be the 1st male in my family tree to reach that milestone.
It's something I can do with my kids, and we all enjoy it.

13. this probably isnt much coming from a punk kid such as myself... but my dad has never done anything like that with any of us, rather he yells at us in a drunken rage when he crashes into us... i just wanted to say i think thats really cool that you bike with your kids 🙂 have fun out there 🙂

14. Health, life, and the sheer pleasure of the road!

15. Because where I ride in the countryside it's very peaceful and scenic. I rarely see any cars and the roads are good. I can exercise in the fresh air.

16. For me, cycling is a very strong, addictive, yet healthy drug. Once it's in your bloodstream it's very hard to kick.

I have every reason to give it up: In 2000 I was hit by a pickup truck while cycling in Milwaukee. The accident put me into a coma for two weeks, I know have a minor case of head trauma (medical term for "brain damage"😉, and rely on a walker for mobility. However, I still cycle!

My horrible balance makes me unable to ride a two-wheeled bike, and I now, instead, ride a recumbent trike (Sun EZ3).

I hope my love of cycling is not only apparent, but, also, infectious!

17. After an entire day working on favit I get really tired (mentally) my eyes ache and I simply need adrenalin. So I take my Bike and... climb! I really like to climb I am only 60 kilos and I can climb well 🙂 After a 2 hours climb, I sit and work again 🙂

18. I ride to keep fit and get out and about.

I was reading about Chad Gerlach of the Amore & Vita team - sounds like cycling pretty much saved his life

19. I ride because first, and foremost, it is a great physical exercise. Second, because I enjoy being on the bike and having the feeling of freedom. And lastly, because it is just plain fun to go out riding. 🙂

Yup. I take a pill or two. It's worth it, though, to be cured of diabetes.

I am type two myself. Any advice on how to approach cycling in terms of managing carbs as a diabetic?
