I have a brand spanking new 04 Lemond Buenos Aires. I got it Friday and took it out for a quick 25 miles yesterday. But my chain kept skipping. The rear der kepts jumping like every few spins of the crank. Do I have a defected chain or rear der?

Do I have a defected chain or rear der?More than likely the rear derailer cable tension is out of adjustment,or possibly a tight chain link. Take it back and have it made right.

Assuming you bought your new bike at an LBS, go back and have them fix it. Setting it up correctly is part of what they get paid to do when the sell a new bike. Everything should work perfectly when delivered...that's why we pay new-bike prices.

Yea I plan on taking it back, I didn't have the chance to take it by today. My LBS is closed on Sunday though! Have to wait tell Monday I guess.
