I just read your article, i do not appreciate it at all, i mountain bike, i have
a bike that cost well over $3000, i'm proud of who i am, i love the feeling of
being in the air, it is addicting because i can't get enough of it. What you
said was slander and it is not wanted across the mountain bike community, we
ride the trails, we love the trails, none of us want to see any animals die, get
injured or get run out of their homes, but we want the trails so we have to
build them. Animals addapt, and so do we by making it the way we want it. You
tell everyone who goes on www.pinkbike.com what you think about biking, there
are thousands upon thousands of mountain bikers, bmxers, road cyclist's and
recreational cyclist's there on a daily basis. If you want to help the planet,
get rid of the internal combustion engine then worry about bikes that don't
produce greenhouse gases.

Sincerly, Mike Allen

You're impressive. Most of your statements are backed up with "PhD." And
if you haven't noticed, the four foot wide "dead section" on Mammoth
mountain for mountain bikers is just as glorious as your two and a half
foot wide hiking trail. That's right, some hiker killed plants to enjoy
nature!

I forgot to add, that the internet you use runs on exploitation of the
earth. Metals mined to form cables, clear-cutting miles of trail for
hydro
lines. Matter of fact, your house/dwelling was most likely built where a

forest once was! And I bet you ride in a motorized vehicle every once in
a
while, and sometimes I bet you even wish you had the stamina to ride a
bike. Even the trails you hike on were once tree-and-bush, meaning
someone
had to cut and trample precious wildlife habitat. So you are just adding
to
the destruction. The universities where you
studied/teach/taught/researched
at were also created on land which was once a forest, or a clearing
which
housed thousands, if not millions of animals and insects alike. Almost
everything in today's world is an exploitation of nature, so stop
picking
on bikers. Have you realized how fast the South American rain forests
are
disappearing? Or How much of even America's forest are disappearing,
though
I don't live in your war-happy country.

Personally, I have rode BMX & MTB, and im also a hunter, and a fishermen, and
have been since I could walk and carry a pole.
Some of the things you say in this paticular articale, in simple terms as
possible, Is ********.
Mountain biker's are lazy? Proven fact that you have never rode a MTB.
And riding a bike is one of the best exercises a person can do if you knew
anything.
And as far as rider's destroying the land? Half of the rider's maintain the
trails that are there where they ride, if you knew ANY rider's you would know
that...
This of course is just my opinion, and the same as many other rider's.
Dont try and start something on a subject you clearly do not know.

Thank you,
Nick, of BC,Canada.
