Will SRAM ESP shifters work with road derailleurs?

In my continuing experimentation with bizarre configurations,
I'd like to make my shimano time trial setup work with the SRAM barrel
shifters. Is this possible? The SRAM shifter description is
1:1 cable pull.

thanks in advance, Jens

Looks like I found a partial answer: the ESP ones won't work, but the
"attack"
ones will -- at least with my DA 9sp rear.

The open question is: will the SRAM triple front shifter work with a DA
double
front der?

I've used the SRAM rockets and attacks .. both work with any shimano
setup. .. ESP rear shifter will work only with an ESP rear derailleur
as you have discovered.

yes it will.

Of course, you will need a flat bar for the twist shifters. I used a
carbon MTB straight bar with the SRAMs .. looked strange but worked
just fine.

Thanks Charles!

This is for my Obree "egg" TT setup. I have a straight aluminum
MTB bar which I'm going to pad so I can rest my chest on it.
I'm hoping to be able to shift without moving my hands from
the optimal position.

Are you sure? The indexed front shifters have mountain FD cable pull. Road
FD cable pull is different, IIRC. If the front shifter are trimmable, then
probably no problem.

Yes, SRAM ESP (1:1) rear shifter and derailer have to be matched to
eachother, but there are lots of Shimano-cable-pull compatible sram
shifters.

Problematic, at best. Shimano road fronts have different cable pull than
mountain fronts, and the srams are all mountain shifters, and therefore
not compatible with a road double. Shimano does make a (as in one model)
front derailer with a mountain cable pull and a road geometry, I believe,
which'd be your best bet. Unless the sram shifters are frictionable on the
front?

Yes. Attack front shifters are essentially friction shifters. They'll
shift almost any front der/crank combination.
