Woot woot! Stuff found while cycling

I wonder if there isn't a group of people who actually enjoy the act of littering?
When given the possibility, most people will take the most stupid approach.

As we say in Italian, the mother of idiots is always pregnant...

On the first ride of the season: a smashed to smithereens B-17 model airplane and a **** magazine opened to a

I live in a rural area and I find lots of female underware discarded in the gutter - someone must be having a good time

I've found wallets twice - well an intact wallet once and the contents another time. The first one was stolen and tossed out of a car window. I found it before the guy even realized it was gone. I ended up calling a number I found in the wallet, which was his daughters boyfriend... he called the guy and I did get the wallet back to him. The second one was the contents of a wallet over about 1/4 mile. First I saw a medical card. I didn't stop for that, but then there was a credit card, a trail of about $60 in 20's, another credit card, a Starbucks card, one piece at a time for several bocks.... so I went back and picked up everything I could find. Good thing the guy carried around his own business card. I called his office and ended up dropping off all the stuff with his secretary. He'd left it on top of his car when he got gas that morning.

It's times like this when I realize I am just not that good of a person. I'd take the sixty bucks and spend twenty on a post ride meal.

A bike helmet, better than the one I was wearing.
I placed it visibly by the side of the bike path and checked back on it after an hour to give the loser a fair chance to double back for it, then I took it!

I found 2 bike tubes, new in the boxes, on a picnic table near another path.

I gotta start posting somewhere. :D

all i can claim is:

1.) a stingray clone in front of a music store w/ a "free" sign hanging on it; it was around the corner from my house, so i went back & got it. still have the frame.

2.) a pair of long-nose vise-grips that were laying in the road; i almost ran over them (on the way to the LBS!), circled back & got 'em.

Today I was on my daily ride and I saw something in the road up ahead. It was a hardback novel. It was just on the roadway in front of an exit point in a parking lot by the beach. I figured it must have been left on top of a vehicle and as the car turned out of the lot:eek: . After I had doubled back and pushed it to the side of the road. I noticed a person waving to me. It was a woman in a vehicle I noticed just a bit earlier entering the parking lot behind me. She was now in the exit area where the book took its  . I went over and she claimed she was quite a distance from this spot when she realised:eek: . I gave it to her so I wouldn't have to take it home and put it with all the other stuff I find!

happy riding

Ah, If only I were so lucky to find and keep stuff. The only thing I've got on my last (since I started riding 2 and half months ago) was some guy's wallet in a Bojangles parking lot. I'm a good samaritan, so I returned the wallet into the store. too bad.

I'm still keeping my eyes peeled for a $20 dollar bill though.

Ok, there's a Crank Bros multi-tool out there on William St, Sydney. It bounced out when I forgot to zip up my saddle bag...

I posted this the other day but the post seems to have gone astray. Some time back I was cycling home from my rugby club at about 1am and I saw a side of pork lying in the gutter. Next day when I was driving in to work I saw two dubious looking individuals trying to manhandle the half pig onto the back of a pickup.

Since this post started I've been looking out for "droppings" and there seems to be an awful lot - I'll post anything interesting

Funny that. My tyre found a 1" nail a few weeks ago. I'll find a wall and hammer it in...

While mountain biking I have found several multi tools. I kept the ones made by Specialized, Park, and Road Gear. Then there are the cyclometers, reflectors, bottles, one bar end, etc. I think at one time or another I have found just about everything that can fall off a MTB.

been checking this thread every now and again thinking; "I've never found anything :( " that is... UNTIL TODAY.

I was at the end of my ride when I happend to see a Oreck handheld canister vaccuum sitting by a roadsign. Now, it looked a bit old and dirty and the cord had been replaced (I could tell sice it was an orange cord!) but I was only a mile or so from home so I circled back and grabbed it. After I got it home I plugged it in and it sounded fine and worked fine! I now have a 'shop' vac.

An abandoned dog, tied to a post with a long shoelace.
My mate found a big black *****. What’s really disturbing is that he took it home!

I can't recall finding anything while biking, but we'll see what the summer brings.

While working as a surveyor, I found a kitten trying to run into the road. He didn't like being caught either. Thankfully, I could crack the windows on my car, and their was a supermarket across the street where I could be food and cat litter for the 2+ hour drive home. He crawled up into the dashboard of the rental car and I had to dismantle a good bit of it to get him out. He had a broken leg and the surgery didn't heal properly, but he's grown up to be quite a handsome kitty.

I also found tools, but a 15mm socket found out in the middle of nowhere seems to stick in my memory the best.

Back in jr. high, one of my close friends lived in an area that could be considered semi-rural. It blew my mind then and now to think of how many pornographic magazines we found by the side of one of the main roads that ran through there.

Cool. Another kitten rescuer. :)
