When nitroglycerin is given intravinously, there are two containers: one with nitroglycerin and the other with solution. Both are dripping into the patient. Would there be any damage to a patient, if only nitroglycerin is dripping into his vein, because second container got empty and nobody replaced it? Thanks, Alex

was the 'other' solution a bag of normal saline that was hung to basically 'keep the vein open' and so that the iv pump won't go off when the nitro or heparin bag empties? probably. why don't you ask the nurse what is going on. i am sure he/she would be happy to answer your questions. janet "Alex" <[email protected]> wrote in message news:[email protected]... > When nitroglycerin is given intravinously, there are two containers: one with nitroglycerin and > the other with solution. What's wrong if the pump goes off when the nitro empties?
