Found these guys on the internet the other day:

http://www.xacd.com.cn/frame.htm

I e-mailed for a road frame price $345+$75 shipping = $420 Don't know if their any good, damn cheap
for a Ti frame though.

-Wasatch

I don't directly know about their quality either. But I do know for a fact that Changda Titanium
Products is the sole OEM frameset supplier to Airborne and they offer a lifetime warranty. And for a
fee, they offer tubing options (diameter, shape, and butting) and finish options (brushed vs bead-
blasted). For the price, they may be worth taking a chance on. I know of a couple of other posters
here who have. And I haven't read any complaints about them, yet.

Sure. I'm going to send $420 to China and *hope* I get something good. I might be cute, but I'm not
stupid! OEM suppliers often offer many different qualities based on price. No thanks, I don't think
I'll take the chance.

Perhaps you should wait and see what others have experienced instead of automatically rejecting
something because it involves China (a significant emphasis of yours). Or just get one from Airborne
and pay an extra hundred or so.

Your assumption that I reject sending money, to someone I don't know, for something that hasn't been
seen, is an incorrect assumption on your part, making interpretations about something I never said.
It's common knowldge that Airborne frames are made in China, and when the poster said that Changda
Titanium Products (being the OEM supplier to Airborne) was selling these frames, the logical
conclusion is that the frames are from China. The emphasis that I put in my statement is that who,
in their right mind, would send money far away (too any country) for a product that is unknown. If
anyone assumes that this factory would send an exact replica of an Airborne product, without the
decals, at a significant price differential has rocks in their head. Airborne wouldn't stand for it,
and I don't think the factory would want to lose such a customer.

Personally I don't give a rip where a product is made, good is good and bad is bad, whether it's
made in Buffalo or Bejing. The fact that you interpreted your own apparent prejudices into my post,
well you should mind your own business!

Marvin, many thanks. I'll give you an E for effort (I mean that kindly), but I have purchased a
frameset. I kinda wish it could have yours, which was very nice!

You're right. It would be wrong to assume that Changda would sell to the general public the exact
same product they are supplying to Airborne. For example, Airborne owns the design patent for their
headtubes. So Changda would not be permitted to sell one of those. And I imagine if someone asked
Changda to make a custom frameset using the exact same specs as, say, a Valkyrie, they would have to
decline. But design and aesthetic differences certainly don't mean that there is also a disparity in
craftsmanship. Anyone who would assume so is an ignorant provincialist who doesn't know the first
thing about the Chinese work ethic, especially in their emerging open market sectors. Freedom and
self respect are essences of the human spirit, and the Chinese will split a dime along its edge just
to earn just a fraction of what we take for granted. So I'd be very confident that the frames
Changda sells directly have the same spec tolerances as the ones they sell to Airborne. Believe me,
if I had enough venture capital (and a vocation I didn't already love), I'd be hanging out a
shingle. But don't take my word for it. Ask Mark Hickey, someone who's had his hanging out it for 8
years now. (That's not to imply that Changda supplies Habanero, because they don't). Better yet, ask
Marty Wallace. He owns three Changda frames and (purchased over three years) and hasn't written a
disparaging word about them, as for as I know.

FYI: Anyone in the market for a reconditioned ti frameset might be interested to check out
Preownedbikes.com, operated by the parent company of Merlin, Litespeed, et al. (I belive)

No, you assumed that I rejected this frame because it came from China. Nowhere did I state anything
resembling a slam on Chinese made products. I would have said exactly the same words for exactly the
same product if it were made in England, Argentina, Germany or Dallas Texas. You made the assumption
that I was somehow denigrated Chinese products. I wasn't and I didn't. You are the one that tried to
read in between the lines and come up with the China bashing angle. Your prejudices, not mine.

I don't usually jump in on these threads, but will mention that as far as I know, Changda does NOT
supply Airborne (or Habanero for that matter) unless they've had a fairly recent fabricator change.
Maybe they have, or maybe they just supply some models (or maybe something other than frames).

Anything I'd say beyond that would have to be taken with such a large grain of salt (or sand, your
pick) that you'd have to ignore it anyway. I don't really go out of my way to keep up with what the
competition is doing (unless it's something I like, of course). ;-)

You did not say, "any country," in your original post did you. You specifically pointed to China.
Had you made that qualification, I would not have made my reply.

Last time. I said China because that is where the product is from. No other reason. The problem is
yours, not mine.

Hmmm, seems the thread can be summarized:

You: anyone know about this

A: Yep, Chinese

something good. . .

Hmmm, seems to support what I read. Now about that imagination of yours. Nothing about any other
country, all you backpedalling excepted.

It's really interesting that you presume to know what I mean. I've lived in Hawaii too long to
remotely think any of what you are 'putting into my words'. My girlfriend is a second generation
Chinese and most of her family, mother, father, aunts and uncles live in the same neighborhood. I
eat with them, play with them and socialize with them. I really hope you 'funnin'. because if you're
not you must be either a politician or a teacher. You are trying to be too politically correct.

Bottom line from your last:

If I cannot determine what you mean from your written words, YOU have failed to communicate
effectively. Your words tell me (no presuming nor assuming) that you rejected China as a place to
send money to to purchase a bike.

The rest is BS.

Why the hell would I want to communicate effectively with you? I was looking for a Ti frameset,
which apparently you don't have. Not some politically-correct drivel from someone who has no
interest in doing anything constructive.

My constructive part was letting you know your post carried a negative overtone vis-a-vis China. I
also advised that instead of immediately rejecting China, you might want to wait and see if anyone
had any experience with this firm.

Did that go over your head?
