XT optical gear indicator

Cover the holes with duct tape.

When you say "holes" are you implying that the white nylon things will
pull out? Now they stick above the now top surface of the shifter. BTW,
I looked on Shimano's web site, this ngs faqs w/o any luck, before I
made this post. What I just thought of doing is to search this ng's
past posts.

There aren't a lot of mtb component posts on this NG.

I've removed several gearshift indicators the hard way (ie: crash) and ran
them for years without any covering in wet grimy conditions. The XTR's I
was using came off flush so I wasn't aware of the nylon nub sticking out of
yours. I guess you could fashon a cap of some kind to cover them or cut
them off flush with a dremel.
