Yellow Jersey Question

I have lurked on this group for years and enjoyed the conversations
and arguments, but I have a burning question that is finally requiring
ME to post.

After each stage in a major race, the current GC leader is given a
jersey of appropriate color with his team logo on it. In le Tour,
this jersey is long-sleeved. However, in many of the stages the next
day, the leader is wearing a short-sleeved leader's jersey. I am
wondering if the sleeves zip off, or if the leader is actually given
two jerseys, long and short sleeved? And how about that team logo?
Surely the race organizers don't produce enough yellow jerseys just in
case any given team wins. That seems like a horrible expense to the
sponsors. Instead, I have visions of a little French dude, set up
with an iron, ironing board, and heat transfers of each team logo, all
set to furiously iron a team logo onto the winner's jersey in time for
the podium babes to zip it onto the winner. Does anyone know?

The jersey given on the podium might just be for show at that moment... not
actually used in racing.
But I'm not sure.

Yes, stick on logo. Jersey is long sleeved for the riders health (keeps
sweaty rider warm). See the OLN winners interview with LA after 17,
hanging low on his arms and unzipped-- must have been too hot inside the
interview tent. Jersey stays at the podium (it zippers up the back--not
good for wearing while racing), racers get new one's to defend.

The presentation jersey is long-sleeved and zips up the back--it's not for
riding in. You were exactly right, there's someone who irons the team's
name onto the front of the jersey just before the presentation. It works
the same way for the green, white, and polka dot jersies.
