  1. Omigod, I just looked at Larry's other persona. His note on a political issue got a response
addressed to URASTUPIDSHITHEAD and accused him of killing all the Arabs in Irq, among other things.
That's some fun little group you got into there. Better even than rec.bicycling. Makes us seem like
    a bunch of wusses.

Venture forth and yes some groups are much more, shall we say, less civialized than this
one. But they can be alot more entertaining too.

  3. My post-swim tea time consisted of going through a few more posts in the political newsgroups that
include notes from Larry. It's been interesting, for sure. As usual, Larry's posts seek to
    question, inform, elucidate - all that sort of goody-goody stuff. The responses are truly amazing;
there is not one single sentence of actual argument or even a word that recognizes the subject.
It's all a huge one-up contest of who can invent the most ass-biting insult. Occasionally there's
a moment of creativeness in the bite, but for the most part it's the standard Shove It statement
with a few colorful modifiers. Makes you kind of wonder about the purpose of the groups. I can
only guess it's an outlet for huge, but vague, anger, an opportunity to express hatred by those
who have no real life chance to do so. As such, I'm grateful for news groups than can keep the
riff raff off the streets and wielding their rusty knives on their computers. You have courage,
Larry, to toss yourself into a fray like that, much like a Jew or Arab who takes a hike on top of
    the new dividing wall.

I think you may have answered the reason for all of the worthless post in the name of the
discussion group. Politics by its very nature breeds contempt, anger and hostility and very
little else particularly of a positive nature. Rarely have I seen results come from politics
and even more rare are positive results. Politics has a tendancy of creating sides rather
than solutions. I take this side you take that side and we'll fight about
it. Usually the sides care very little about the content of the argument just that my side is right.
So if you disregard the content of the argument you don't have to think of an intelligent
response, merely a response that appears to make your side right. In most cases "your an
!@#hole" does that. Why because "!@#holes" are bad, bad is wrong, I must be right.
