Hi!

I have a '04 Trek 1500 - Off-the-shelf. (Ultegra).

For my upcoming vacation In california (I live in Colombia) I plan to get a road bike around $2000, hopefully carbon. Any suggestions?

I also have a Trek 6500 MTB (Off-the-shelf).
It's about the best one can do down here without breaking the bank.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.....

My rides. Sorry for the bad pics - I think the camera I used came free from a box of Crackerjacks :D

LOOK KG381i
DA9, LOOK CX6 pedals, Cinelli Solida Magnum stem and bars, LOOK seat post, Arione saddle, Aerolite wheels (velocity rims, white ind hubs, CX-Ray spokes 18f 24r)

Cinelli Proxima
DA9, LOOK CX6 pedals, Cinelli Graphis stem, 3TTT Forgie XL bars, Cinelli Ram post, Arione saddle, Aerolite wheels (velocity rims, white ind hubs, CX-Ray spokes 18f 24r)

Note: I took the DA9, pedals and wheels off the LOOK and built up the Cinelli this week, so I technically have one ride, a frame and some parts. March/April will build the LOOK back up with DA10, Keo pedals, FSA carbon crank and very likely another set of the same wheels.

First post. Just getting into serious riding after replacing a late-80s Lotus:

Orbea Starship Carbon with
  • Campagnolo Chorus shifters, carbon rear derailleur, cassette
  • Campagnolo Centaur front derailleur, crank, brakes
  • Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels
  • Michelin Pro Race tires
  • Look PP-396 pedals
Also, mtb a 2003 Rocky Mountain Vertex, Shimano XTR/XT, with some nice Shimano M765 wheels.

Both bikes a pleasure to ride, every time.

My first bike:
2002 Felt F65 frame, 105/Ultegra, Ouzo fork, Aero comp seatpost, SLR, FSA gossamer cranks, Rolf Vector comps, Michelin PR, Speedplays.

Logged 5,100 miles in 2004, my first year of riding. This might be my only bike for a while, since our son was just born, plus our 2 yr old daughter.

next bike will be full Dura Ace Cannondale Six13 w/ SL's.

My latest ride is an Avanti Ridge Rider Disc. It was just built up for me yesterday by the dealer. All is well with it, except the tyres are too aggressive when on small loose pebbles, the result being they flick up onto the bike.:(

Apart from that, the Manitou 6 front forks:D , shimano deore drivetrain:D , and the shimano disk brakes:D work like a dream. It also features many components from it's sister company Specialized.

Cost me $800AUD, haggled it down from nearly $900AUD. It pays to shop around!!!

This bike has been beautifully engineered and i am very happy with it. . Its in a nice dark blue, have alook at the specs below or follow the link to have a sqiuz at a picture...
