I give credit to Zabel for coming forward with his admission last month. I also think he should be applauded instead of chastised by the cycling leadership, or should I say lack of leadership. It takes courage to lead and to say things that are unpopular and not what you think everyone wants to hear like a hallow admonishment over doping cyclists. To come down on just the riders when the entire institution is mired in doping will never trully fix the problem. It is systemic. And what message does this really send? It tells other dopers to keep their mouths shut. It doesn't encourage open discourse. And I think the hypocrites that are in charge sincerely want it that way... a dark, secretive world of shadows. The show that is being presented to us now, is merely a ruse.
