Ok... a friend of mine is buying some Zipp 303 wheels. Can somebody tell me the benefits? (I am sure there are some..) They are pretty light and strong wheels apparently.... he also looked at the 404 ones (with a larger/thicker rim)... would these be better? They are pretty pricey..!

Personally would go with the 404's over 303's. The 404's are more aero and have a very minimal weight penalty for it. Also go tubular, they can be a PITA to change, repair etc but at 400gm less in weight and the ride quality are all worth it IMO.

just got a chance to ride the 4's and they are AMAZING... the ride with the tubular is sooo drastically different. if your going to spend the money for ZIPPS, then spend the ephin money right. its weeeeeeeeell worth it!

Well if it were me I would get the 404's over the 303's. I did not have a very good experience with them, but it could have been a freak occurance. Read this thread for more detail.
http://www.cyclingforums.com/t257831-.htmlFWIW they were too flexy anyway and I had them built with the highest spoke count. I now have Cosmic Carbone SLs and they are MUCH stiffer... time will tell if they are reliable but since the Mavics are clinchers, I am using them as training wheels too.
