I'm thinking about getting a pair of aero wheels, maybe the Zipp 404 clinchers or a pair of Mavic Cosmic Carbone wheels.

What i'm wondering is, can you use normal brakepads with these wheels as they seem to have an alloy rim?

But on the Zipp website they only talk about using Zip carbon brakepads with Zipp wheels (?)...

Are there any other aero wheels (in the same price range :) ) that i need to check out?

EDIT : Hmm, i just noticed the Zipp 404 clinchers are WAY more expensive than the Mavic's.. are they also that much better, or?

HED alps are another good choice. 55mm deep, bladed ti spokes, alloy rims.

tubular or clincher. the clinchers were "bicycling magazine's" editor's choice in 2002. with a msrp of $895, they're loads cheaper than the others. and lighter than the mavics.
