I've heard about this so-called "experiment" in Pasig City. Frankly, I'm not impressed. Half a kilometer of bike lane? That's hardly anything to write home about. And limiting the use of the bikes to just those lanes? That's a recipe for disappointment.
If the local government is serious about reducing traffic, they should be encouraging people to use bikes for transportation, not just for recreation. They need to invest in proper infrastructure, not just a token gesture.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for promoting cycling as a sport and a hobby. But if we want to see real change, we need to be more ambitious. We need to push for better bike lanes, more bike-friendly roads, and a culture that values cycling as a viable mode of transportation.
So, while I appreciate the effort, I can't help but feel underwhelmed by this so-called "experiment". If we want to make a real difference, we need to aim higher.
