One thing that's a must, though, is some water or something else to keep you hydrated. You're probably going to sweat a decent amount, even on shorter rides, which means that you need to be properly hydrated to avoid heat stroke and other nasty consequences. I wouldn't go on a ride in that heat without something to drink!
