Hello all.. as a beginning racer, I'm faced with a training dilemma. Should I choose running (treadmill or outside) for 6 miles which would closely represent the time distance of a crit, or, ride my mt. bike uphill for the same time period? I hate running so I'm inclined to simply choose riding, but, I want to improve so if running is a better way to accomplish my goals then I'm all in. Any feedback and the reason for your choice would be appreciated. Thanks! Brian » read more
This has always puzzled me. I have seen people bragging how light their bike it but they are overweight. Is it just like a backpack where every pound counts? In other words, would a person that is 160 pounds with a 20 pound bike and a person that is 156 pounds with a 24 pound bike technically be the same excluding factors such as fitness level and aerodynamics? » read more
I put tags on all the videos so you can filter the videos by stuff like category, crash, music, road race/criterium, telemetry, etc. If anyone is interested in helping me, let me know. I can give people rights to post new videos as long as you follow the format I put together so that it stays organized. » read more
So... I fancy myself a strong time trialist and am looking for advice on bang for the buck in aero wheels. I use a wheelbuilder aero jacket cover on my rear (powertap) wheel. I am about to get a 40 mm front wheel (set actually) to use for training and racing. In TTs I've used a 27mm 18 spoke Easton ea90 rim (mine), and borrowed Zipp 404, Zipp 1080, HED jet 90... My 2 best 10 mile TTs were on the Easton, my best 40 km on the HED. All at about 27-27.7 mph. My intuition tells me I will be faster with the 40mm front and quasi disc rear than the 27mm... But I wonder if anyone has any idea how many seconds could be gained over a 40mm rim to say a 60mm, a HED3, or HED 3D, or 85-90mm wheel? » read more
