If you're a dumbass like me riding a barely maintained junker with
nutted bb axle and you probably didn't torque down the nuts tight enough
to begin with it's much easier pedaling one legged on a fixed.

Heh, I came out of my left pedal when doing some intervals the other
evening. I was being sloppy and half removed my shoe by hitting it on
the chain stay, which subsequently popped me out of the pedal. Nobody
saw it...never happened.

That is true on flat road with a fresh leg, but if your leg gets
tired, you cannot scooter the bike (stand on one pedal and kick off
with your free foot). And the one-leg down hill spin is a *****
(looks stupid, too). I had to do that when I broke a crank on a fixed
gear five or so miles from home. This is where cell phones and

Ah, that is true. Thankfully I was only 2 miles from home and it's pretty
flat around here.
