A TdF route a Frenchman could win?

I dunno... looking at the '08 TdF route, looks rather dumbed down. No epic
stages with 4 or 5 climbs, the initial ITT is rather short, no Ventoux... am
I missing something?

Or is this an attempt to eliminate doping by making the stages not-so-hard?
If so, why not just come out and say "OK, we've designed an easier route
with more chances to recover, so you guys don't need to dope this year."
Yeah, I guess that wouldn't sound so good, would it?

In the end, the riders make the race, not the course. Could be that, with
more people feeling they've got a shot, we'll see a lot more action, a lot
more moves to cover.

Or could be the most defensively-ridden race we've seen in years.

Do you think I expect some kind of "credential" after your stupid comment ?
"OK, we've designed an easier route with more chances to recover, so you
guys don't need to dope this year."

???

Dear friend : If you have some kind of Marion Jones credential, if you are
pround in supporting cheaters so ....you are a xenophobic loser.

Have a nice day

You are apparently much better at *appearing* fluent in English than is
actually the case. I don't think anybody else got the impression that I was
in favor of cheating.

He also may not have been amused at the subject line. I was, in fact, hoping
to get some comments from our few resident RBRs that actually live in
France. I probably could have done so in a less-offensive manner.

Or he's possibly upset that since they've won it, it's been:
multiple Americans*
an Italian*
multiple Spaniards**,***
a German*
a Dane*
an Irishman***

*suspected of doping
**at least one won by default
***just as "dope-free" as the Frenchman that won before him

There are 4 mountain top finishes though which should help separate
the mules from the race horses.

Percentage grade doesn't have nationality.

And he stole it fair and square.

Monte, here's a clue for you - when you don't understand what people mean
you should ask them first and not react negatively. Do you suppose that
people are attacking you because you're French or because you're reacting
all wrong to what was said?

Mike is one of the nice people and a humorous jab meant in fun was hardly
the thing that should have set you off.

Since you've posted much better in the past I wonder if something is
bothering you indirectly?

The mules would be the ones who didn't take the dope out of the
condoms before swallowing?

Don't know where you picked up this weird idea, but if a course isn't
challenging, the top riders won't waste their time. Trust me!

What, they'll all go off and do the Tour of Qinghai Lake instead?

In any case, next year's Tour is challenging enough. The time
trialists might feel a bit shortchanged but not by too much.
