tupes getting holes on the seams?

so far with the tires on my road bike (bonganger race lite hard case) I have
not found anything that made it through the tire and tuffy liner. I have found
glass and rocks and but of metal in the rubber but they don't make it through. I
have had three flat its in over 3000 miles. the first on the inside of the tube
the second on the outside. but it was on a seam. it look like the seam was split
and a hole right in the middle of the split. today I had another one on the side
of the tube. on a sea and the usual split but two little holes this time. I
think all of these tubes are specialized tubes just basic road bike tubes.
anyone else have this problem?

I've had a couple tubes split on the seam. It looked like production
defects. Where did you buy them? I seem to recall the bad tubes coming
from Citybikes, but I'm not 100% certain.

got some from bike gallery when they had that big sale and river city bikes. I
think it's time for another brand.

Bontragers? We've had 2 or 3 seam-fail, all from BG. Unfortunatly,
they are the only tubes BG carries with 60mm valves that SO's Rolf
wheels need. I'm going to switch mine to Speciliazed for a while,
hopefully they will be more robust (if heavier).

I, too, have been getting holes / tears along the seams -- running the length
of the tube and not the seams that runs the cross section of the tubes.

You get what you paid for, I suppose. These tubes were from Performance
Bicycles (ie 10 road tubes for $20.00).

When the tubes are packaged in the box, the tube usually have some residue air
in the tube.

When carrying an extra tube in the seat bag; I throw the box away; let the
remaining air out of the tube; re-fold the tube to take up the smallest space
possible, and stuff it in the seat bag.

There lies the problem. I think by letting the residue air out of the tube,
this compromises the integrity of tube when stored in this state for any length
of time.

That is my observation.. and I am sticking to it.

As for quality tubes, I have had better success with Bike Nashbar low priced
tubes than Performance brand low priced tubes.

For a while, I think Kenda was making Bike Nashbar tubes -- and from a price
value stand point.. the tubes are a good buy.
