Seems that the explantion diadnosed and treated by my LBS has rubbed you up the wrong way Boudreaux.

Don't waste time in replying - you were unable to diagnose or rectify the problem when I posted the problwm initially.
And it is obvious that when the diagnosis and the problem is sorted that you
take this as some sort of personal insult.

Well, actually, the chain 'setling in' had nothing to do with it. Disassembling the cable tension adjuster had nothing to do with it.He adjusted and aligned the dreailer.But just keep slopping up the BS.

Have been competed and cycled for well over 25 years.
I can spot a chancer a mile away when it comes to bikes.

I asked the question and you failed to diagnose and solve the problem last friday.
If anyone's the chancer - it's you.

I've not heard about the chain working in either. My bet is that the derailleur was not placed on the seat tube correctly -- maybe off a mm or two, that is turned toward the front wheel just a bit too much. By removing the derailleur to clean it, then placing it back on the seat tube, the bike shop mechanic probably aligned it better on the seat tube. I had a similar problem years ago that I solved by taking a vice wrench and spreading the derailleur cage a little.

Having one in hand is different than, at arms length thur a computer. Besides you said you adjusted it. Assumed you knew what you you were doing,but making assumptions is always bad business.
