Posters to RBR now have their posts altered without their permission. It's only spam for now. But the spam is put in your original post as if you're endorsing the product or store. They use a search bot that looks for key words. These key words are sold to advertisers (spammers). If your post has a keyword such as "Shimano" then your post will come with an ad link to an online store who sells "Shimano" gear. I don't like being used for personal gain without asking me first. Not to mention that RBR is also in a position to sell out some of your personal information.

I don't know if this is related, but I also see a lot of search engine queries where most of the results are pure BS with the target words inserted in some nonsensical fashion. I found this by Googling on phrases in my own Blog to see what responses would show up and I got a lot of worthless advertising sites that had nothing to do with my search words even though the little blurbs included in the responses looked promising. Very odd.

This is due to a fairly well-understood gaming of PageRank results by "link-farming". At its simplest, the spamdexer creates a bunch of web pages with popular search words, and then hyperlinks these pages to each other, thus forming a chain that looks (to Google's PageRank algorithm) like a bunch of pages that are getting a bunch of links from a bunch of well-linked pages, which in PageRank is a sign of meaty goodness.
Google has been trying to crack down on this by tweaking their algorithm. It seems to be a bit better now than it was some months back, but the issue is ongoing.
