International Cycle Show , Islington - Anyone going ?

I'm trying to plan to go, it'll be the sat if I do, since sunday I may
be attempting my first ever audax (albeit *only* a 102km).

Need to get organised enough to get advance tickets (get a discount for
being a member of the CTC, yay!) but also organised enough to sort out
whatever needs doing for entering the 102km ride too...

This is the third show, I think. They show a wide variety of types of bikes,
including folders, road bikes, and tourers, but exhibitors are not allowed
to sell anything at the show. Personally it's the only show I find worth
attending, but then I visited the Birmingham show once and vowed never
again, because it was all BMXs and mountain bikes.

I picked up a leaflet in Decathlon.

It says you get a £3 discount on the ticket by
using booking ref DEC online,
or by phoning 01905 743722

I'm scheduled to take some Greenwich cyclists there on the afternoon
of Saturday 25th.
A meet-up there with other urc'ers would be great.

If anyone fancies some pre-show exercise we have an earlybird ride
departing 8am that day.

The Unfit Family went there last year and had a good day. Nathan especially
liked drooling at the bikes. Basically it's a good day. Only downside is you
can't buy anything... well... hardly anything. We did buy some SiS Go powder,
but that was it. Whether we get this year depends upon Nathan's workload. Not
sure if we are going on the Saturday or the Sunday this year. Vernon is being
indecisive ;-)

But think of the longer term advantages: you couldn't buy anything, and
now can thus afford those boring day to day things like "food", "the
mortgage", etc... ;-/

I have it planned to go, I would book up tickets in advance but am lazy so will probably just pay full price at the doors. Good job there isnt much to buy as I have little money. Last thing i need at the moment is to be tempted into buying another racing bike.

I will be in the UK over that period and am dying to go, ideally on
Friday 24th.

I see tickets cost more if I get them at the door. That's not so much of
a problem but could there be difficulties getting in? I don't want to
book ahead because I will be on holiday with cranky parents and they may
make it a guilt trip for me to go. But if I can escape and be sure of a
ticket at the door it's no problem about the 2 extra pounds.

I've bought my tickets on the door for the last two shows and there's
not been a problem.

Having been to this show before the lack of opportunity to purchase is not
that bizarre - the show is a "serious" one to showcase products etc and is
NOT the style of show that is held at the NEC in April where the whole thing
is aimed at the kids with baggy shorts and woolly hats .... thus there are
none of the "cheap jack" cycle product clearance outlets with "show offers"

After all that, I am sure that if you asked one of the dealers exhibiting if
you could buy a bike they would oblige ;-)
