I am sure most of us drive cars as well, but IMO, from general observations, regardless of which way the Government heavily taxes and targets motorists, the majority of them take it and will continue to do so simply as they either have no interest of trying new public transport (such as Trams in Notts) and they are scared they'll die on a scooter/motorbike and some hate the idea of cycling and think its only for kids.

Increase in the sales of scooters (and cycles?) means that some motorists are trying to cut down on using the car and use alternative (perhaps more efficient) transport, but the majority will cling onto their cars for all their needs. It will take something spectacular to encourage cars to use their cars less (making unecessary journeys in a car which can be done on foot, cycle etc).

Goodness knows why he's posted it six years after it originally
appeared, but someone has kicked off a thread currently on
rec.travel.europe (and cross posted elsewhere) 'Bicycles To Become
Primary Transportation Mode', by copying the article 'Cities Turning to

Or the journey is not possible... I should be orienteering now..
Important event, paid a big entry fee, but the cage stopped working on
Friday.

No problem, there is a bus, chuck the Brommy on the bus and ride the
last 10miles to the forest.... Oh its been axed - Sunday you see.

How would they feel if brought back.. ie road users pay for the whole
system..... Would be a bit more than £165 pa I think. Something for
the trolls to ponder .
