Hi, I've never been in a chat forum before but if it helps me out that would be awesome! I have a miele mtn bike and its making a clicking noise in the left pedal with every pedal stroke. Ive taken it to the bike store where I bought it but the guy there can't find what is causing it. He said repacked the bearings and said it should help but it is still happening. Anyone know what it could be?

I would take it right back and let them do it until they get it right or replace the pedals.

Does it make the noise when you rotate the crank & pedals by hand when you are not on the bike? If the pedals are the clipless type that a cleat on your bike shoes locks into, it could be a loose clip mechanism, and not the bearings at all. If they are platform pedals that are not one piece, it could be the parts of the pedal flexing under load as you pedal. You could have the shop temporarily replace the pedals with some others and then see if a quick test ride in the parking lot cures the problem. If not, it might not be the pedals at all.

Do you use clipless pedals? I've had a cheap SPD pair make a click sound that drove me nuts. I replaced the pedals with Speedplay and the sound is gone. I've also had some cage pedals on my mountain bike make click noises. I replaced them and it took care of the click. I guess I'm trying to say that I think its your pedals. Good luck. 😉

I¨m getting this on my second bike ; but only in warm weather or after riding /indoortraining for 20 - 30 minutes ie the time it takes for the bottom bracket bearings to warm up and the grease inside to thin - but only on the right side .

Well--I tried all sorts of things with adjusting/changing pedal when I had a similar noise. Took it to the bike shop. They tightened the crank with an Allen wrench--and no more noise. Hope that's your problem. It's a very easy fix. Good luck 🙂 🙂

Yeah- I have found that every time my pedals makes any kind of noise...it is time to torque the crank. I guess cranks are mechanical ventriloquists.
