  1. A couple of new places I've not come across before, which have turned
    up in recent web searches;

Holly Mill Cycles, based in Carlisle (www. hollymillcycles.co.uk)
Velomax, based near Birmingham Airport (www.velomax.co.uk)

Anyone used these in the past? Any good/bad points to post? Both have
some stuff on offer that caught my eye, especially the very tempting
(and decently-priced) Tufo clincher-tub 'cross tyres that Velomax are
selling. On the subject of which, anyone had experience of the Tufo
clincher-tub system? Feedback very welcome, as always.

Wakies Cycle Centre in Codnor Derbys. will beat any price for the Tufos.
Website is [censored], but if you ring him you'll get sorted, just tell him if
you've seen them cheaper, and he'll match if he isnt already cheaper.
I've used the clincher tubs for a few years now, and find them really
good, though I've just taken my last one off tonight, as I got a good price
on a pair of Fast Fred CX tyres!

Many puncture problems? And in the event of punctures, does that Tufo
sealant stuff do 'exactly what it says on the tin' (apologies to the
    makers of Ronseal)?

Don't apologise to them, that was a commonly used expression for many years
before they got their grubby little paws on it.

It only works if it is a thorn or other such small hole.
I hit a rock which caused a 3mm split in mine - there is no way the
sealant can fix that. And once you have a hole like that, its new tyre time.
The previous year I didnt have a problem at all over around 18 races,
whereas with tubes and tyres, I reckon I would have had at least 2 or 3
    punctures.

Just tried the Tufo tubulars (I got them from www.sdeals.com), so can't
    comment on the clincher versions.
