But they have an elite mens TT too don't they?? Its not just a road race is it? Isn't the TT on like sep 29?

Yep! There's a TT and a Road Race. 😄 Maybe someone will fill in the dates here. I think the October 4th might be the beginnings of the TT's. It's not just elite men; there are other categories.

Remember last year, the winner of the TT, David Miller, was later determined to have been doping with EPO. He's banned from the pros now.

If he's recovered from the Vuelta, I'll go for Valverde who was on the podium last year. Ulrich for the TT.

I agree with you completely on that. It would be different if it were 2 TT's. Even that would be a gamble, but immensely more predictable than with only one road race.

I was wondering about that. I saw Mick Rogers in there, and I knew he was 23 in December. I was figuring he was going to turn 24 in Oct or Nov. I guess I have too many things going today. I need to be more careful. :p

Yeah thanks. I had a small heart attack when i read he didn't start the GP Beghelli, and I thought that when i check the news on cyclingnews it will say something like "Ullrich out of Worlds" and what do you know, it pretty much did!! I am totally gutted lol. I feel quite sorry for him though (i would) because he cant keep any food down etc etc so he must feel like [censored] poor guy!!

He says he will do his best to be right for the Road Race, he will have lost too much weight, and be still weak from being unwell so even if he did start it he would be 'riding uphill' from the start. I think he is just going to have to wave goodbye to Worlds and an average season (by his standards) and go and have his holiday he wants. Without gaining to much weight 😉

I think Cunego will give everything to win it. His hometown. And the same circuit where he became junior world champion. He has had a ' quiet ' vuelta, and will be showing up very well prepared.

How much of my vote is hope? Dunno. It is always a one day race, so a lot of it is left to fate. But my money would be on Cunego. 😄

Not that Bettini has been riding that badly the last few days... 😉

I think the Spanish are going to be very strong on Sunday. They have three main options in Valverde, Freire and Astarloa. Whilst the Italians will probably ride for Bettini with Cunego as their other option, I think that the Spanish have a great chance. I'm not sure if the course will be hard enough to allow a solo winner. If it comes to a sprint, then I think that both Valverde and Freire are quicker than the Italians. Other outside bets could be Zabel and O'Grady.
