will ALWAYS be more important than any Italian race. Keep in mind I prefer
Italy for cycling by a factor of 10 times but I can see the world without so

the most important cycling race is the world is one competely ridden on
froggy territory: Paris-Roubaix. What I am questioning is not the races on
the Pro Tour schedule, which are basically OK (though I would add some more
Flemish classics like Het Volk, E3 Harelbeke and the Scheldeprijs), but the
teams. In fact Hein himself declared that one of the reasons for which the
pro tour was implemented was to avoid too many home biased wildcards
instead of worthy foreign teams in the TdF. Scandals like the World
Champions' team not invited were to be avoided with this formula. In fact
thinking about it 2 teams from Frogland in the Pro Tour would be more than
enough.
And now what? All the non performing frog teams will be there, frogland
will have 5 teams in there, more than any other nations, as if it was the
leading movement in term of teams, and we all know it is not.
I mean, a really strong team like Kelme won't be in the Pro Tour and a joke
of a team like AG2R (who has already lost their only real rider, Kirsipuu,
for the next year) will be in?
If Valverde wins tomorrow it will be no World Champion in the next TdF all
over again, for the 3rd year in a row. And all because some ASO craphead
says that "Tour of Frogland is the Tour of Frogs, too".

The Tour belongs to ASO and not anyone else. It is a private entity and if
they wish to run it in a way that appeals to the host country, you can
hardly fault their logic. To place further limitations on the Tour would be
punishing ASO for building the race in to the de facto most important event
in the sport. Nobody worries about too many Italians in the Giro nor do they
worry about too many Spaniards in the Vuelta. We all know why. Leave the
private organizations alone. ASO could literally unseat the UCI if it wanted
to. Let's not give them a reason.
