  1. We got out early for a great ride on a perfect fall day. There has been
snow nearby, so to get a day with temps in the low 20's C meant we just
    HAD to ride!

At the trailhead a guy has found he has a flat, and his gf asks if we
    have a pump.

"Sure, Schrader or Presta?" I ask. "Uhm, the bigger one..." and he
thanks me and heads off to put some air in his tire. Nice guy. Very
thankful for the use of a pump.

This prompts Linda to check her tires, and she comments "Ahem... I need
    air in my tires!"

I comment on where her pump is, and she looks at me with a wry grin and
says "But you're the mechanic, that's your job! Check my tires when you
check your own." And she proceeds to pump up her own tires.

With that done we set out on a wonderful ride on a fall day. Crunch,
crunch, crunch go the leaves underneath the tires. It takes my Bomber
about 20 seconds to pick up a leaf and "ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz....." down the
    trail we go.

The breeze was refreshing, and the company was great. The singletrack
was really hardpacked, and very crunchy with all the leaves that have
fallen in the past few days.

The only downside was the darn biting stable flies. Those things bite
through DEET like I bite through a Meat Lovers Pizza!!! Ouch.

We didn't see much in the way of wildlife, 'cept for maybe a gazillion
Canada Geese flying towards some poor greens keepers place of
    employment.

Back at the trailhead we had BBQ smokie sandwiches and giant blueberry
    muffins for desert.

    Great day!

Very nice, and I wish I could get my wife to start riding with me again.
I'll bet the Fall colors are beautiful.

Linda was always game to try anything that I'd try before I had my
surgery. Now she can attempt *more* stuff, where I'd have to get off and
walk just to be safe...<sigh> Surgeries/Meds can really suck some of the
fun outta hobbies. (Good thing I wasn't all that skilled to start with!)

The colours are really nice, though I've nothing to say in the way of
comparison, as fall has always seen me in Manitoba. Fall in this neck of
the woods happens really fast. The trees go from green to yellow/red to
bare in the matter of a week some years. The leaves on the trail make a
night ride all that much more fun to do.
