  1. Nice bike, lovely on the road after my Halfords mountain bike.

Only problem is one of the plastic things on the pedals, to hold feet in
place, broke. Might get some steel ones......

Don't go for some nice SPD's instead. It make the experience more
    enjoyable.

I'd agree though I have four pairs of Look cleated shoes so I''d go for
those. Galaxies are super machines by the way, you'll be able to enjoy it
for years. I couldn't afford one when I bought my tourer.

Nah, go to clipless, like the others said. Speedplays are reputed to
be confortable for long rides (I get hotspots with SPDs, as many
others do). Or Look, they are good too. Or spuds and be one of the
lucky ones who doesn't get hotspots :-)

What are hotspots? I use SPDs and find them fine.
It took me a long time to decide to go clipless but it is so much better. I
got the ones with a 'normal' pedal around the SPD so I can go shortish
    distances in ordinary shoes.

    I'm sure Peter meant:

I can recommend the SPD pedals with the surrounding platform for
    touring.

Lots of people do, but some don't. I find that after fifty miles or
so the ball of my foot starts to feel as if it's being lightly toasted
with a blowlamp. I persist with Spuds because the cleats are below
the rubber bits of my shoes, and when I was learning to ride the 'bent
I needed to be sure my foot would not slip out when I put it down. To
go back and refit Look cleats to all my shoes and Look pedals to all
my bikes would be a bit pricey, however much I might like Looks :-)

I am tempted by Speedplays though.
