Avid Rollamajig Roller any good? How about aluminum derailleur pulleys?

The Rollamajig works pretty much as advertised - it reduces the
friction in the rear derailleur cable loop (by eliminating the loop
altogether). I put one on my time trial bike to reduce the
higher-than-normal derailleur cable drag from all the extra cables
(running down from the aero bars).

The word on the aluminum pulleys is that they ARE noisy, and probably
don't really do any good - unless you like the color of course.

I had chronic rear shifting problems on my mountain bikes (especially my
full suspension), and the Rollamajig completely solved them. Haven't broken
the cable in well over a year, whereas before I was going through 'em like
mad.

I've had one on my mountain bike for years, and I'm very happy with it. It's a
real problem solver. The biggest problem with MTB shifting has always been that
last loop of cable housing, which fills up with dirt and gets sticky. I used to
have to flush and lube this piece every few rides. Since I've had the
Rollamajig, I haven't had to touch it. In fact, I've hardly touched the cable
adjusters in years.

I haven't noticed any noise.

I've seen derailers with these built-in recently (XTR?).
