  1. My girlfriend lives up there and I would like to bring my bike up there to
ride... but I rarely see any cyclists when I'm there... heck, I rarely even
    see any shops.

Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

A good place to start is with the local bike club:

  4. A good ride is along the American River Trail if you are into bike paths.
If you are up to a little more adventure, then I highly recommend riding
Auburn-Folsom Road. There are numerous places to start. My favorite is at
the east end of Sutter Street in Folsom and then taking the bike trail up to
Beales Point transitioning from there onto Auburn-Folsom Road. Round Trip
    about 35 - 40 miles.
