One thing that has to be remarked is that after the World Championships he
flew from Verona to Las Vegas for the trade show and he came back just
Monday. So he didn't train for a week, had a jet lag and only rode
Milano-Torino as a preparation for Lombardy.

This guy is winning big races without doing Lance-like scientific training.
It really seems he has a potential to become one of the few true greats.
Maybe the hugest talent since Hinault.

He's similar in many ways to Lemond. He's good!

Granted he is a huge talent, but he has a few major deficits he must work on to be classed with the likes of Hinault or Lemond.

At this point, he's nowhere in a TT, and while he is a fast finisher, he can't be classed with the likes of Hinault or Lemond in a road sprint, both who could kick it with the likes of Kelly and Saronni in a road sprint.

His skills should serve him well in the Giro and one day races. I expect we'll see him on the top step at LBL within 2 years, but he needs to get his time trialing up to snuff to match the likes of Hinault or Lemond.

If he gets the time trialing down, he should be considered a potential great.

Too bad for Casagrande today. 😎

I'm equally impressed with him. He will need more power to win races like
Liege-Bastogne-Liege, though. Those short steep climbs tend to favor riders
with more punch in their legs, like Garzelli, Bettini, Giagni Bugno, Moreno
Argentin, Lemon(-d), and the like. But he can win classics and stage races.
If he could time trial (and he can't), he could be a podium finisher in the
Tour, and could win it if they make the race for him like Pantani in 1998.
