After a quick clean of my mechanical disc brakes and then a bit of an adjustment, i rode away onto my favourite trail. It didnt take me long at all to realise that all of my brakes power had.....gone! As well as this the rear brake was making a loud sssshhhhhh noise. Is it possible that me wiping the pads on the grass to get rid of gunk could have caused this.... Or cable stretch or something as i was told at my local bike shop ...
As u may have guessed i really dont have a clue what im talking about... Will purchasing some new pads and cables reconcile my braking power problems? They are only 6-inch discs so i guess i am slightly restricted.

A simple tune up ought fix this. Do that before you go replacing anything.
