I replaced the outer on my front derailleur. Shimano Sora, two front rings.
(Truth be told the outer had got mangled at the end nearest the gear lever. I took it off and cut a bit off using cutters, then put new ferrules on each end). Replaced the inner cable through the pinch bolt, and pulled tight. The changer won't work. Is there a knack to this adjustment? I made sure not to fiddle with the limit screws or anything, so I assumed a cable swap would be easy.

Shouldn't be a problem on a double. Trip the STI lever to as if changing to the small ring, undo the pinch bolt and ensure there is a gnats whisker of slack in the cable, retighten pinch bolt. Push STI lever to change onto big ring, if it won't lock in position provide more slack by either turning the adjusting barrel or releasing more cable through the pinch bolt.

What does happen ? Nothing ? I suspect the nipple isn't engaged properly in the lever so when you move the lever it is moving no cable. Does the cable move at all ?
