  1. I'm registered for a mid October marathon. Now, I never
was much of a runner but after getting egged on by a family
member, 2 of my friends and I signed up. we all started
the NYRRC first-timers marathon schedule aiming
at a 4 hr 30 minute time. i cautioned them both about
doing too much too soon and getting injured.

Well, don't you know. We were at Race-14 or so, i got
some new shoes (NB717), went for a run and came
back injured. ITB. It might have been the shoes
    or the PR 4K i did 3 days earlier. I don't know.
Anyway, I went back and was refitted to NB 991s.

I took 3 weeks off, ran a 5K trail race without much
discomfort but I'm finding it difficult to build up on the road
    side of things.

This week I'm just treadmilling. A bit slow. and not much.
Next week I plan to try outside again. I'll avoid hills
and inclined sidewalks. I do have 2 more 5K trail
races paid up prior to the marathon. I intend to do them.

My marathon plan now is run/walk. Run a mile. Walk a minute.

I have to do the marathon cause it too is already paid for.
Even if I walk the majority of it, I'll be happy. I'm now aiming
(really just hoping) for 5 hr 15 min. Still a big step for me.

Anyone have any suggestions? as regards training or
    recovery or time goal?
    thanks...thehick
