Well, I told her about my plans and made sure that our plans do not
    conflict.

You'd better apease her by getting the kitchen remodel done soon.

Of all the things to pick on the guy about "clearing" it with his wife
should not be one of them. I always double check things with my wife to
make sure she does not have a work obligation or something else going on if
I am going to be away for a day.

I am guessing the single folks just do not understand...

Some people are so upset that I do not eat certain things, that they
use every opportunity to say something unpleasant and senseless.

It's not that anyone is upset that you don't eat certain things. No one
really gives that much of a damn. It's your attitude that you come in here
knowing everything and listening to nothing. Seems like you spread that joy
    everywhere you go.

Donovan, I am not aware of your personal situation, but I am curious,
let's say you want to spend a whole day away from home. Would you ask
your wife and make sure that she agrees with your plans? Would you
like your wife to inform you if she wants to spend a whole day
elsewhere, and ensure that you did not have any alternate plans?

I am engaged, we live together and yes we always discuss weekend plans in
    advance.

Gay marriage is NOT legal yet, but they'll be first in line when it is.

Realize that he once started a thread asking how he could look more
    "rugged".

No, you don't see anything, ever. Donovan, from what I've read, doesn't have
the strange need to tell us that he checked it out with wifey-poo. That's
    his own business.

    Cheers,

I mean I hate to be nosy, but if you're having problems i'd be happy
to intervene. I dig straight guys who are lonely, if you know what I
    mean...
