At least one of the running books suggests that some people run at
inefficiently slow cadences, e.g. much slower than 180 ff/m (foot falls
per minute). If you cadence is slow, that might be something worth
experimenting with.
Mixing in some speed work at least once a week is also said to help
running economy.
Others here have just suggested just lots more running, but if you gait
is inefficient, it's possible that running more may just train your body
to run inefficiently for longer periods of time.
