  1. I find a rucksack far more stable with the tent inside the pack.

    As for wild camping you are not braking any criminal law in doing so as long
    as you do no damage. At worst you are committing a civil wrong and can only
    be asked to leave. Should this ever happen and you refused then all they
    could do is apply to the courts to have you removed. You would probably be
    long gone by then.
