That's the route I took and returned via Gatescarth Pass. Excellent route
and definitely recommended. There is a walk report and a few pics on my
website if of any use (see sig below).

Last Wednesday, 27th, got to the Mardale Head car park, early, 7:45am
[first car in the car park!] and did go up to Adam Seat, via
Gatescarth Pass. Then onto High Street via Little Harter Fell, Harter
Fell, Nan Bield Pass, Mardale Ill Bell & Thornthwaite Crag/Beacon.
The weather was OK in places, great views of Gray Crag and Hayeswater.
Decided to go on The Knott via the straights of Riggindale. The
weather started closing in and the wind increased dramatically, wind
chill a very real issue. Visibility while going towards Rampsgill
Head and High Raise was very poor - glad of the GPS!! Decided to call
it a day, headed towards Kidsty Pike then onto Kidsty Howes and back
to Car Park. On the way down, visibility improved as the clouds
seemed to have a base of approximately 650m.

Finished back at the car at about 1:15pm, & according to the GPS, on
the move for 4hours 30minutes, covered over 19km @ just over 4km/h.
