    I like this part:

"The diet is also replete with low carbohydrate, high-fiber foods such as
broccoli, cauliflower, berries, grapes, certain seeds, nuts, grains, and
legumes. Natural fats including those found in fish, cod liver oil, and the
saturated fat found naturally in butters, cheeses, milk, and creams are also
permitted. The Maker's Diet includes weekly partial fast days in each phase
    of the diet."

Just what we need, another diet. I'm surprised they didn't include locusts
    and wild honey.

  3. I absolutely "HATE" the way people have made "dieting" into a "biblical"
issue in that what we eat, etc. is "the Bible way." Check out
http://www.hacres.com/diet.asp and see what they say is the Hallelujah
Diet where they only eat raw fruits and veggies, etc. I get really
upset!!! (And I come from a Christian worldview.)

The best Biblical principles I can think of would be 1. "I keep my body
under subjection" which the Apostle Paul said and 2. "Let your moderation
be known unto all men." God did command the children of Israel to eat a
certain way in order to show their differences from the other nations, but
got rid of those forbidden foods in the NT when he told Peter to go ahead
and eat of even those things that were unclean. We were given permission
to eat anything. (Obviously God does want us to take care of our bodies,
though, so we do need to learn how to do that.)

I get frustrated since it seems just another "marketing ploy". And as we
know, the diet industry is never ending. If people really cared about
just helping us learn to eat better, they'd put the information on the
internet and give it away for free, for our betterment. Unfortunately, it
    seems that it's "about money".

Yeah, I agree. However, for most people in the US culture, beauty is a
religion, so perhaps it's just the standard morphing of the church to
    pop culture.

Wild honey is not low carb.

Not only that, but it was John the Baptist and the Essenes who ate
locusts and honey - not Jesus, as far as we know. At least, there's no
    mention of it.

Do you dip the locusts in the wild honey? Hmmmm (gag -- retch).

The locusts and wild honey described in the Bible don't seem to indicate an
    insect.

In Matthew 3:4 the word "locusts" is the Greek word "akris" which is talking
about a type of vegetation, not a bug.

That's fascinating. I edited a scientific text on food gums and thickeners
some years ago that suggested that "locusts" in that context actually
referred to locust BEAN, as in what locust bean gum is made from. I thought
at the time the author was making a stretch, but I guess I finally believe
    him now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Locust is just another name for carob beans.
