I was 191 this morning. But I refuse to be discouraged.

Hi, Carol Ann!
Doing wonderfully! I weighed in this morning at 199---BELOW 200 at last!!!
I think that puts me down six pounds so far. I'm feeling great, too. Don't
really have any menus, per se, but my lunches and dinners include protein
(meat) and usually a salad.

As of yesterday I was down6 of the 8 lbs I wanted to lose on the challenge.
Yesterday was DHs birthday though and I cooked us a totally off-plan Italian
Feast for dinner. i made his favorites and we had wine and bread with it,
followed by birthday cake. We both agreed it was delicious but we wouldn't
do it again. We just didn't feel good after and it was over-the-top. Normal
in the old days but too much now.
I made...Muscles (fra diablo) served with thin slices of italian bread, that
was the appetizer. then we had Fettucine with shrimp, in tomato sauce, a
little spicy - dunno what i'd call that but it is sooo good, with grated
parmesana reggiano and we had really good italian bread and butter and
salad and chiant with it. It was a delicious meal but, like I said - too
much. The wine and Muscles were enough. Never mind the birthday cake!
Hopefully it won't set me back too much - this morning the scale was up 1 lb
but I won't go by that - I weigh in on friday's so I'll see what the scale
says tomorrow and take my measurements.

Sometimes it's good to have that experience. It helps you not want to go
offplan so much, when you know that offplan can feel so bad after.

Hi, Carol Ann ... steady at three pounds lost on the month. Two to go for a
happy dance ... eating lots of eggs, which I love but am getting tired of
cooking. Does anyone have an idea for cubesteak that goes beyond frying
them in onions?
Thanks for the challenge!

One pound last week, for a total of, well, one pound so far this
month.
On the other hand, I seem to be losing inches amazingly. Stayed at
size 20 for a long time (might have really been a 22 for part of
that), but I went from 20 to 16 fast enough that I never bothered with
size 18, and a couple of weeks ago realized that the size 16 jeans
were too large and the size 14 ones fit well.
And this week, the size 14 jeans are really on the large side. I can
wear them, but if I were trying them on in the store, I wouldn't buy
them because they're large.
Unfortunately, I don't have any size 12 jeans around to see if those
fit. I did find a pair of size 13 ones in my closet (apparently never
worn), but those are still too small, alas.
As for menus, my menu is pretty boring, but it works for me. I've
been aiming at 1300 calories per day, since my goal weight is 130
pounds, and so (in theory) I should be able to stay at that level
until I reach my goal. I'm at 40 to 45 grams carbohydrate per day.
Breakfast:
Low-carb yogurt
(sometimes) Decaf coffee with heavy cream
Lunch:
Canned salmon with mayo and hard-boiled egg
OR
Low-carb tortilla with smoked salmon and 1/4 avocado or cream cheese
OR
Low-carb tortilla with sliced turkey and 2 slices microwave bacon and
1/4 avocado and 1 tsp mayonnaise
Plus half a large pickle or 6 spears pickled asparagus
Afternoon snack:
Diet Jell-O
Dinner:
Romaine lettuce salad with red peppers and either vinaigrette dressing
or Litehouse Lite Blue Cheese dressing
8 oz meat; fish or steak or pork or lamb, with some kind of condiment
-- red pepper or Thai ginger or Szechuan
Evening snack:
Berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries), 4-8
oz., depending on how many carbs I have left
Pistachios, 1/4 to 1/2 cup unshelled (actually, twice that, shelled),
depending on how many carbs and calories I have left
I used to have macadamia nuts in the evening, but Costco stopped
carrying them, and they're too expensive everywhere else.
I'd appreciate any comments on my basic meal plan.

I'm down to 278 - which is six down so far. However, I am currently at
the low part of my cycle, so my goal for the rest of the month is to
hang onto this weight while I gain the water again for the next round of

Make that one to go! This will be the first significant goal reached during
many months of indecision and lack of discipline. Hey, I know ... I have a
long way to go .. . but a goal is a goal and I am one away!
